lomu Jonah Lomu was a rugby player from New Zealand , active in the career in the role of three-quarter wing. Considered among the best rugby players of all eras as well as the most eminent testimonial of the new course of professional rugby after his performances at the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa, his career was abruptly interrupted at the age of 24 due to nephrotic syndrome which necessitated a kidney transplant; he had a brief return to activity but the health problems deriving from his illness never allowed a complete return to the levels of before 1999, and in 2010 he retired definitively after an amateur season in France.
His kidney disease is believed to be among the primary reasons for the cardiac arrest that resulted in his death in his hometown of Auckland on November 18, 2015.
